I have always been an art person in a technical body trying to get out!  My Mother was a painter and I spent most of my childhood and teenage years trying to fit into a painterly mold.  I just didn’t fit, so in high school I decided I had no artistic talent and moved on to science, (which I also like a lot). I graduated from college with a nursing degree and basically ignored any creative needs I had for the next 3 years.  After my Children were born and I started working part time I started to explore various creative media; everything from country crafts, fashion, interior design and polymer clay.  I should say that I have been a fan of glass (read glass freak!) for the last 10 years.  I have a small but significant collection of contemporary art glass, as well as antique glass that I treasure.  I had never heard of or seen any artist’s beads until 5 years ago.  I started taking silver-smithing classes at the local craft guild and met some people who were also beaders.  Several months into my foray into fabricating silver jewelry, the Craft Guild started offering a class on lampworking so I decided to add that to the list of my rapidly growing jewelry skills.

When I sat down at the torch and melted my first piece of glass it was like some one turned on the light!  Like so many other bead makers I was instantly enthralled with the medium.  It allowed for expression like no other medium I had previously explored.  I picked up skills fairly quickly and now consider myself a fulltime glass and jewelry artist. I have, and will continue to take opportunities to study with other glass artists, as well as silver jewelry artists.  I am a member of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers, the Mid-Atlantic Society of Glass Beadmakers and the Triangle Bead Society.

I make my home in Cary North Carolina with my husband, two sons and assorted furry creatures.
